Appointment of Board Director

The Board of WS Atkins plc (Atkins) announces the appointment of Joanne Curin as a non-executive director. She joins the Board with effect from 10 February 2009.

A chartered accountant by profession, Ms Curin has a broad range of international experience gained during her career as a senior finance executive for large scale organisations in the property and construction, oil and gas, pulp and paper, shipping and logistics sectors. She has worked in the UK, New Zealand and Australia and more recently held finance director roles for both Lend Lease Corporation and P&O.

Ms Curin is currently a director of Intelligent Engineering Holdings which has developed and is commercialising a composite material technology for use in heavy engineering structures.

Ed Wallis, chairman, Atkins, said: "I am delighted to welcome Joanne to the Board. She is a heavyweight finance director with tremendous experience gained in truly global and diverse companies. This will be a great asset to Atkins as we continue to develop the business."
